> What is 2012ad about?
One thing common to all who hold the 2012/2013 perspective is the
observation that cultural reconstruction, scientific knowledge, and
environmental changes are happening at an accelerating pace. The
conclusion is that at some point this acceleration must enter a
'feedback' loop in which change becomes instantaneous, and everything
happens at once- in other words, a singularity will be encountered.
The next conclusion would be that what is 'vanishing' at the
singularitypoint is the very perception of 'time' as linear. So beyond the
singularity, many 2012'ers anticipate a new understanding of time and
cosmology.
The date of 2012 is fixed upon for many reasons, but I'll only reference
three:
First, 2012 is the expiration date (technically, Dec. 21/22 2012) of the
Mayan Calendar. The Mayan calendar describes a 'closing of worlds' to
occur in
2012, a passage from this world (the 4th) - to the next world (5th) -this
is general Native American cosmology...
The Mayan/American cosmology explains many other aspects of this world
that 2012'ers seem to relate to.
Second, it has been astronomically calculated that on this date our sun
will conjunct the galactic center. This fact supports the theory that our
evolution is governed by what is called 'The Precession of the Equinoxes'
- which describes a roughly 24,000 year cycle of rotation through the
galaxy. 12,000 years a spent in galactic day and 12,000 during
galactic night.
We are at the end of galactic night... (our present time is the moment
before dawn). this also coincides with the geological record of ice
ages/pole shifts every 12,000 years. thus, many might argue that the
year 2012 indicates a transition point from the Age of Pisces (which
we've been in for over 2,000 years) to the Age of Aquarius.
Now this might not sound terribly scientific or rational, but keep in
mind that this is precisely what the transition from the age of Pisces to
the age of aquarius implies... we are moving in understanding from a
'binary' cosmology in which a thing is true or it is not, to a
'holistic' cosmology in which a thing is true and false at the same
moment- depending solely on one's perspective.
